Drago Cerchiari
-Flights Woods and Blu-
Dragon Cerchiari (Milan, March 13, 1949). Studied drawing, piano. Many painters, sculptors, art critics in the family, including Fausto Zonar, which became official painter to the court of the last Ottoman Sultan in Istanbul and uncle, Aldo Cerchiari, who initiated him to painting. In 1979 he painted "Jellyfish" and "Poplars", representative paintings of themes that will be processed and developed in the following years. In 1980 he moved to Philadelphia, USA. Fertile production, the huge atelier: an abandoned building, opposite the Town House of 800 Pine Street, also used to exhibit, study, deal with emerging artists in America at that time. These were the years of "Rising Eagle" and "Seahorse with Susanna". He exhibited at the Friedman Gallery in Philadelphia, the Wachat Gallery in Boston, the New York Barlow Gallery. Began a period of travel that contribute to its cultural maturity: Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela. Knows Asia: Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Philippines. Japan approaches to contemporary, including Kaij Higashiyama, a painter who had the opportunity to study long. In Mexico City in 1983, he painted "Armando Scheleske", "Dos Mujeres" and "Cat on the snow". He exposes the Atelier of Cotopaxi Sierra Lomas De Chapultepec, the Bowman and Ordonez Gallery, and in Buenos Aires to Santini Gallery. He knows Nierman, Orozco, the sculptress Carol Muller. In a brief stay in Pittsburgh in 1984 paints "To Erga", "No fences," the beautiful "Rain on Glass" later exposed to Squibb Gallery in New York. In 1985 he moved to Princeton, USA. A new studio in the woods. This is the period of the trees, "Fences and trees" and "Rain on the glass". Susanna, the small Ario Darcy, the birth of Egon Alec, a creative work that brings him to travel extensively in Australia, Asia, Africa, all contribute to make the period of Princeton's most fertile of all, that in which they were conceived the most important paintings, which marked the beginning of the following periods: "Three bottles and two glasses", "Wisteria", "Quality of Life", later acquired by Squibb Foundation in New York. In 1987 he returned to Italy. It is the nature of the term death: "Bottles Grey" (1990), "Second snow, trees, first sun". The atelier is an old laboratory. After a period in New York, he moved in 1994 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The studio, a chalet in the woods near Lake Geneva, becomes a magical space where I create large paintings of maturity. In this period "My Japan" (1996), "Free half-naked and alone" (1999), "Canada on Fire" (2002) and "Norway" (2003). He exhibited in Milan, Imperia, Lausanne, Geneva, New York. Finally Sardinia. A workshop on the sea. The discovery of mixed media influences the production of the latest paintings; "La Grande Sicilia" (2009) and "Mario's" chair (2010) are among the most significant. In 2011 Giorgio Mondadori published an extensive critical catalog entitled 'The five lives of the Dragon'.
