The beauty of evil by Denitza Nedkova
Is beauty good or bad? Is it right or is it wrong? Is it eternal or is it absurd? Is it today or is it always? It is Art. A small part of the endless existence of creativity. Yes, because art is both good and evil, both right and wrong, now and always.
We look to the deep and liquid works of Sauro Benassi. Immersion in the amniotic fluid of nature, between bacteria and aerobics, seems virtual to us, unreal. But it is only the life that Benassi observes through the microscopic lens, borrowed from the hard and disenchanted world of science. Still, it is absolute poetry this dance of morphofunctional units that build the whole universe. Looking in with the art of Benassi takes on a literary literal meaning and allows us to understand how our imagination and our body are one thing. The artist, therefore, assumes the position of the neuro esthetic which well understands the equivalence between soul and heart, between idea and brain. Then we understand these works as the moment in which the imagination becomes tangible, the moment we exclaim "I really saw it!".
The creative ability of the creator to model material and illusory forms is also evident in Mauro Fastelli's work. The constant movement of many dimensions and materials helps the artist to express an intimate journey between two opposites: the beautiful and the ugly, the light and its absence, inanimate hardness and organic softness. We do not refer to the simple contrast between gold and iron, ubiquitous in Fastelli's work, but to the precarious conciliation of unavoidable tensions, which makes the aesthetic experience harmonious and exciting, peaceful and aggressive, real and incredible. In front of bulging, rusty, pungent bumps, our body ignores unconsciously in defense, but our gaze concentrates, consciously, in investigating the content underneath. Who makes art, accepting to mediate between conscious and unconscious, is obliged to use it as the essence of the spirit.
From the abyss of Benassi and the silences of Fastelli give us the loud Neo suprematism of Stefano Galli. In flying, above all and all, to revel in impressions, colors and faces, this cartoonistic reportage art causes our dopaminergic empathy. There is no time to fear. We are overwhelmed by characters, places, and high-speed moments that do not seem to notice our presence. Galli's challenge challenges every space-time reference, every stylistic definition, and focuses on obtaining an immediate and disconcerting involvement of the user who, in fact, remains distraught by the scenes of this pictorial gaming. But this is not a game and we do not notice how our attention and our smile hides a deep and melancholy reflection on a world, more cruel and inhuman than ever. As in a video game, we participate and we have fun to see and do not belong to that we are, and we have built or destroyed, hoping to become Czech for real, seeing only the virtual. But the beauty of evil is always a beauty that can not ignore the good.
