Current artistic research is characterized by an increasingly rapid involvement with the world of science and with all the information it can share with the study of human creativity. If the functioning of the mind determines our physical existence, it is also useful to understand the spiritual one. The work of art is transformed into a fact and event in observation and cognition, more or less complete, but always veritable in the world.
How does the mind work out what the eye sees? This question, based on many psychological, cognitive, neurological and historical studies by artist Silvana Mascioli from a non-orthodox response. His work, in fact, leads a hybrid examination ranging from optical art and structural research to the effervescent color of pop art. The emphasis on lines and shades derives from a search for the simplification of the forms, the synthesis of their essential elements, to obtain the essence of the material that determines not only his brain perception but the whole mental cognition of reality. Therefore, Mascioli abandons the sole point of view of the two-dimensional surface and produces images rich in multiple perspectives that are offered to the eye of the singer at the same time, just as when the mind processes what the eye sees, which is never a point of View, but a whole and personal vision of the world, the one that makes us individuals.
A process of emulating the visual act is also seen in Mauro Martin's photographs. The technological eye of the machine becomes a screenwriter who builds object systems originally belonged to pictorial language. Portrait, still or naked, depiction moves from one medium to the other in the search for a visual representation of the complex cognitive process that allows man to extrapolate beauty from all materiality. Martin can not count on a technique like pictorial painting, which obeys the vision of the creator of light, color and shape. The artist, on the other hand, is confronted with the facts of reality by following his rules to illustrate not so much his vision of the World as the great wealth of perceptual possibilities that he offers us. In this sense, the human eye and the photographic lens share the same task in the hands of the artist, who knows how to grasp the aforementioned essence of truth that makes him always and forever beautiful.
Angela Marchionni prefers instead of choosing a single expressive medium. Artist, writer, photographer, the artist is constantly searching for the most upright verb, of the most expressive trait, of the most real moment to tell his personal way of living the beauty. So never make a choice, stop, never make a decision or direction, but abandon an eclecticism intent. One element, though, is every present in his work and follows like ritual breathing, or an analogy and illiterate vision normally associated with the microscopic lens. To see the near life, to enlarge the forms is nothing but the same synthesis of the essential formality that also dominates the works of Martin and Mascioli. But the perceptual copiousness, the depictive noise, the chaotic space-time are a sign of an artistic attitude to look not so much the truth of the material as its vital dynamics, the one that says the going and coming, Absence, the beautiful and The ugly of any organic presence or not.
