The first "portraits with mask" signed Marvellini are dated in the decades straddling the turn of the twentieth century. There were received matrices plate but miraculously survived some unique pieces printed on fiber base papers.
The prints were made in dark room with an original technique, based on tannic acid, called "Toned Marvellini". Of the next century are preserved instead of sixty negative heirs Marvellini reprinted today and fit frames adapted contemporary image.
At Label201, at FotoLeggendo, will be screened Marvellini finds some of the oldest. These include those belonging to a series of female portraits. I am sir, customers first photographic studio, who wanted to remain anonymous but at the same time longed to pose for photos Marvellini. There will also be the disturbing Marvellini newer, mini installations that run the world adding to the image expressive force amplified by special presentations in the frame.
The exhibition is inserted within FotoLeggendo, eighth edition.

Photo of the legendary Marvellini is established only that was founded in the year in which photography was born. An old advertising, now preserved in the Archives in Milan RB Foro Buonaparte, read: "From the Brothers Marvellini portraits for everyone. Even for those who do not want to be portrayed." In successive generations the archive Marvellini grew into a vast gallery of imaginary characters. The valuable collection, always kept hidden, is now disclosed by the will of the last heirs.
