Wednesday, November 21, at 19 opens the exhibition "Animism" at the space Label201, located in the small courtyard in Via Portuense, between Piazzale della Stazione Trastevere and Radio. The building, an old barn in the early '900, restored with great respect the existing architecture, will host the works by Finnish artist Sanna Maija Laaksonen for a period of one month.
Understood as the first complete retrospective of Maija Sanna Laaksonen, the curator Chiara Lorenzetti worked with the artist to define a path, a path through which the viewer can venture outside the bounds of reality. The volumes and surfaces Label201, preserved in their original integrity, let read the different layers that over time are overwritten on the original walls, creating a strong empathic bond with the works that are taking place.
The works are created by playing with mixed media engraving and paintings of various sizes and formats which, when put together, make up a puzzle in which is hidden a message.
The use of sizes, shapes and different types of paper, sometimes tightly woven, porous, sometimes sparse and compact formal expression creates variety and dynamism in the collective performance of the works. Splashes of color, fine detail material and scratches on the canvas represent the intervention Cardinals in the final of the incisions.

Are also reported recent creations, made between 2011 and 2012, which set the paper images of moths, constellations, shamans and sacred groves, capturing non completely new artist. It 'can, in fact, in this retrospective look at the changes that have, over the years, the career of Sanna.
Through a metamorphosis of expression, moth, insect but not more entities, is transformed into a symbol of status after death, a messenger from other worlds; becomes spirit of contemporary post-modern age, and at the same time neo-medieval. The moth caged in his own dis-humanity, interacts with the second subject matter, the constellation. Map Starry traveling ultra-ground, the constellation form a route undefined and, for this reason, able to induce the viewer to get lost in it.
