Daniele Locci in DALO Art
At the age of twenty seven, Dalo moved from his beloved Maremma to Arezzo. Around the age of forty-five he approached art. One can say he’s “self-taught.” The only artistic training he received is a life drawing class in Florence in 2004 while working as an operator of the community. Afterwards, he decided to dedicate himself to painting full time. Meeting the sculptor Sandro Ricci, who recognized his rare talent for painting, prompted him to deepen his knowledge and dedicate his greatest energy and strength to art. His artistic life changed notably by meeting Fabio Rossi, animator of the association who gives life to popular theater in Monticchiello in the province of Siena. From this friendship four fundamental personal exhibitions were born, one of which took place in the Val d’Orcia, located at the Piccolomini Palace of Pienza in 2006, which introduced Dalo to the public, launching his career as a professional artist, from which his exhibits have flowed one after the next up until the most recent one in Ferrara this past June, 2012. His painting is figurative, a classical figurative which pulls from the great tradition of Tuscan painting. He defines his painting, “a very personal naïve.” In front of his large canvases and the strength that his colors express from the canvas, one finds great originality and distinction. The source of his inspiration is his fantasy, visions and personal memories from his early teens. His works convey strength and tension and his great love for life.
