Ecologica/Mente
Exhibitions, Italy, Trapani, 15 May 2013
From 15th May to 31st May Magazzini dell'Arte Contemporanea will host the exhibition "Ecologica/Mente", curated by Anna Mola.
The exhibition features over 40 works by 12 Italian and international artists, from the world of painting, sculpture and photography. They illustrate the developments of contemporary art about the ecology's theme, in particular the relationship between man and nature, first mean of this term.
They'll be shown artworks of: Øystein Aspelund, Iolanda Di Bonaventura, Lieven Engelen, Adriano Ficarelli, Michele Franceschini, Klaus Kampert, Kathrin Loges, Francisco Provedo, Mirta Vignatti, Robyola Von Wünsch, Anastasia Titova Yakubenka, Marta Zylska.
During the vernissage a buffet and a small gadget theme will be offered to the guests.
Concept
The issue of the ecology is one of the most debated from 20 years, its importance grew exponentially up, just think that the theme of Expo 2015 will be "Feeding the planet."
Caring of the environment has become worrying about its precarious conditions: pollution, deforestation, depletion of natural resources, etc...
The purpose of this exhibition - which takes place in Trapani, one of the cradles of the Mediterranean - is to return to an original conception of the term "ecology", understood as a spontaneous relationship between humans and the environment. Environment that sometimes is the result of changes caused by history, other one is pristine, and still others is damaged beyond any imagination.
The works of painting, sculpture and photography in the show have the common denominator of a personal approach to the nature or its particular elements, an approach that becomes a relationship and interpretation through the chosen technique.
Man in nature-nature in man: these are the two main keys to the selected art objects. Although not directly visible (or just non-existent) sometimes, the human intervention is observable into the landscape and not always in a pejorative sense. In other cases we see creatures belonging to the realms of flora and fauna approach or "sneak" in contexts defined as reserved for human being.
The outcomes of these artistic pursuits are very different from each other and have the ability to ask questions. They especially show how dangerous it can be to divide the road of man from that of the Earth, as the first one can be invasive and the second devastating, as the separation needs, every day, to become integration.
