Artists from all over the world and from the world of painting, sculpture and photography exhibit a total of nearly 40 artworks, sharing a common reflection on the subject of food. From introspection to the rediscovery of traditions, to the most original graphic interpretations, "food" express itself, in this collective exhibition, showing some of its several aspects.
They'll be showed the artworks of: Francesca Bianchi, Yu-Chuan Chang, Roberta Colombo, Gaspare De Stefano, Egle Grebliauskaite, Antonello Incagnone, Kong Wee Pang, Anastasia Titova e Mirta Vignatti.
During the vernissage the internationally acclaimed chef Giuseppe Giuffrè will play a performance of show cooking.
Food is a primary, physiological need; the only one that has become a means of socialization and through which it's possible to convey feelings and emotions. It can even be understood in a spiritual sense, as a metaphor of nourishment for the soul. Declined in a lot of variations: junk food, raw food, exclusive, traditional, delicious, “food” is always the protagonist of life and even of art. Care and comfort of ourselves and ones we love or scapegoat of frustrations and discontent. And in web society, it could only take on new forms, represented by thousands of TV programs.
Art has in common with food the ability to interact, to be a means, to encourage the sharing. Declinable in many ways is the theme of the exhibition, as declinable in infinite shades are art and communication in general.
The purpose of this exhibition is to show various interpretations of this "element", so essential in everyone's life and with which a great part of artists has dealt, in the artistic career, at least once.
The selected artworks show how the artistic approach corresponds to the personal approach towards this vital source of life. We observe works that hark back to tradition and simplicity of a "housewife life" (as defined by Roberta Colombo): dishes of ancient tastes, almost poor, close to a story or an anecdote, dishes that tell a piece of history, though not necessarily a story we know. On the other hand, conceptual researches, that suggest a "second reading": graphic works, macro photographs. What does an artist eat? Mirta Vignatti wonders and through her camera, we peek in what her eyes devour every day.
Each participating author gave a very personal and original contribution, revealing ways to interpret and perceive the reality, beyond the theme of the exhibition. We can understand this point by the choice of the medium used, the style, the line decided for the project submitted, the interpreted visible portion of real world. Coming from different countries around the world: Italy, Taiwan, United States – just to name only a few – it's natural that it becomes a cross section of different cultures, mentalities, reflections.
For these reasons the choice of the title "Your Food": not a single "food" or only one way to interpret it, but "your" food: in order to continue the interaction, bringing a constant exchange of ideas and new nourishment.
