Critical comment by Elisabetta La Rosa, Art Historian and Art Manager
The symbolic narration comes to life in the work L'abbraccio, where emotion merges with the pictorial material vibrating in the visual perception of the observer.
Maristella shapes a symbolic embrace within which the people evoking the most loved ones are enclosed.
The artist blends cinnamon with the pictorial material, thus recalling the origin of life according to a religious vision: "Especially in the Middle East it was believed that the cinnamon plant originated directly from the garden of Eden."
An introspective, emotional, synaesthetic narration that involves the observer in a vibrant poetics, in which the senses become spokespersons of the intrinsic matrix of the work itself.
The balanced colors and the predominantly female faces, characterized by dynamic shapes, excite and involve the viewer in that pictorial crescendo. The figures are placed in an indefinite space-time dimension in order to shape that introspective value that becomes the narration of the soul.
