The Art of Solidarity
The earthquake is an event that, even before the ground shakes the soul, the heart. There must be direct victims, the world around you collapses and you find yourself in a few seconds to start from scratch. It 's an event that creates panic, what you are silent and deep rooted in, undermining the sand castle of certainties and hitherto unquestioned. And then
impotence, the inability to do anything against the inevitable. Terror, panic will not let you rest. And otherwise, that noble, to many people in a fraction of life, after much work and so many hopes, find themselves without anything. And 'an ethical duty, a duty even before the result of necessity, take place to help those currently experiencing the drama of the events and anxiety about an uncertain future. In this context I think is fair, even by those who live "the most beautiful part of the world", the art work to help those in need now more than ever. The idea is that, primarily supported by Zonta International Club of Reggio Emilia, Bologna Academy of Fine Arts and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia (and all those organizations who want to help, Region and Province in the head) to organize a collection works of art donated by artists from all over Italy (they are already more than 600 accessions, even from important figures in the national art scene, gathered in a single week of Appeal vis Facebook) the sale of which is aimed at the reconstruction of common Rolo (RE), Cavendish (MO) and Quistello (MN), strongly affected by the earthquake. In this project, significantly entitled "ARTquake", "the jolt of the art", which has no other character if not the aid of victims, are called to participate in every part of Italy artists, curators, critics and gallery owners from many different formations, and individuals. For each of them will simply be asked to donate a work that later, under the auspices and the strict control of a non-profit organization (we asked to take responsibility for the ANCI), will become part of a public exhibition in Reggio Emilia first to be auctioned off for devolverne the proceeds to help people affected. We have already raised the membership of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and its Civic Museum, the main cultural workers of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia led by Alberto Agazzani, creator of the initiative, with the secretariat of Leah Bedogni and communicative support of Lorenzo Paci (equilibriarte.net) and Amedeo Bartolini (NFC editions of Rimini). We expect the membership of the various service clubs operating in the area: Rotary, Lions, Soroptimist.
The exhibition will take place at the prestigious area of the cloisters of San Domenico in Reggio Emilia, from July 11 to September 5, so the works must be sent to the organization no later than June 30. The works will be exhibited with the suggestion of a minimum bid of buying direct (on-line at www.artquake.it site or through a bank transfer form) for the direct purchase: the works remained unsold "directly "will be a raffle and the tickets will be sold at a price of 50 € each, during the finissage of September 5. The proceeds will be fully and directly put into the hands of the mayors of Rolo, Cavendish and Quistello. To achieve this we are working hard and we appeal to all those organizations, including economic, eager to give their contribution to this initiative. Thanks
