QVC Italy presents "DonneXDonne" an unprecedented exhibition of photographs of the women, to support Breast Health International (BHI) in the development of research and treatment of breast cancer and providing assistance to women affected by the disease and their families.
An event aimed at women and not only created by Chiara Pariani, Director of Marketing and E-Commerce QVC Italy, curated by Manuela De Leonardis with the organizational support of Room 21, which will be staged from 28 October to 8 November in Rome , in the extraordinary space of the Gallery of the harpsichord at the Palazzo Borghese.
"The focus is on women, first of all, the project has risen from a strong commitment to the women. Women are the common denominator of this event created, interpreted and intended to them. "- Says Clare Pariani and continues -" We believe that art and culture are producers of value. The project represents a unique opportunity for QVC to strengthen the relationship with the community through a different medium than television or the web. In addition, we are particularly sensitive to activities that focus on women, because the female world is the target of choice in which we operate. "
"The camera photographs the unknown" is the phrase the American writer Susan Sontag that inspired the show. "I wanted to shed light on an unknown rare, potentially threatening as inexplicably warm, in which the presence and absence chasing each other. Capturing fears and desires, dreams and tension, enthusiasm and pains externalizing a deep part of the self, in fact, is liberating and triggers psychological dynamics that is no longer sure what the real results in imagery, "said Manuela De Leonardis, curator of the exhibition "DonneXDonne" that QVC Italy shares with a great sensitivity to social issues, putting in service of charitable causes, in the specific case of Breast Health International, its know-how.
The photographs, selected by De Leonardis are signed by 25 international artists - Lucia Baldini, Alessandra Baldoni, Eliana Child, Marina Cavazza, Annalisa D'Angelo, Anna di Prospero, Simona Filipinos, Susan Harbage Page, Simona Ghizzoni, Maimouna Guerresi, Archana Hande, Riitta Ikonen & Karoline Hjorth, Francesca Leonardi, Rania Matar, Malena Mazza, Malekeh Nayiny, Valentina Parisi, Alice Pavesi Flowers, Daniela Perego, Giada Ripa, Virginia Ryan, Larissa Sansour, Rita Soccio, Ivana Spinelli, Cristina Vatielli.
"The female body - the subject of the course - including the creation of the self-portrait and is the setting of symbolic constructions in which the camera is a companion text, page after page of a diary that became choir," says the curator.
"A polyptych female", however, is the definition of Mario Peliti, director with Paola Cavazza Stace Gallery of harpsichord that hosts the exhibition, in which the photograph confirms its nature and vocation antimimetica metaphorical.
On the edge of emotions and instincts, then, are defined images that reveal, in all their vulnerability, the "desire to defile her innocence", taking once again borrow the words of Sontag.
During the vernissage on October 28, there will be a photo shoot where some of the guest artists protagonists realize that they want a portrait with the common thread, a string of red wool, which is precisely the theme of the campaign in support of the Foundation Breast Health International united against breast cancer. Part of the proceeds of this activity and the sale of the works on display, it will be donated to BHI.
