It opens on March 5 at the Civic Museum in Sansepolcro (Arezzo) on the last leg of PRIVATE, exhibition and educational project dedicated to the theme of gender violence and femicide.
Born from an idea by the artist Federica Amichetti, PRIVATE addresses the issue through contemporary art, emphasizing the social role of art and culture as a vehicle of communication, stress and reflection on subjects mistakenly considered and referred to as "private".
fundamental part of the project is an educational program, because PRIVATE shall have the objective of contributing to building a culture of non-violence, respect for gender equality, starting with the school. In addition to meetings with the students, led by psychologists and criminologists, the project is marked by conferences open to the public.
PRIVATE - proposal for the first time to the public on 8 March 2014 in Ancona - arrives in Sansepolcro after stops in Sorrento and Pens (2014) and in Cosenza and Milan (2015).
Many artists over the years have participated in PRIVATE that the Civic Museum of Sansepolcro by Antonio Zimarino presents works by Federica Amichetti, anemone, Alessandra Baldoni, Mandra Cerrone, Angel Colangelo, Annaclara Di Biase, Ilaria Margutti, Giancarlo Marcali and Rita Soccio with the contribution of Nikla Cingolani and journalist Tamara Ferrari.
The exhibition presents the theme of femicide and gender-based violence by taking as a starting point and reference the intimate sphere, right to reject the confinement of the matter to the private sphere. Proceeding by denying the display highlights the spread of drama using the term "private" in their double meaning and therefore also looking at violence as deprivation (of dignity, respect, rights, freedom, and life itself).
Are presented works ranging from video to installation, from photography to the documentation from performance action, all aimed at denouncing and at the same time to open a debate on the nature, the dynamics and the personal and social implications of violence.
The project is accompanied by a book of the same name with contributions from journalists, critics, criminologists, theoretical and political and published by Project Comunication, Recanati (MC).
PRIVATE is a cultural project, social, artistic and educational, because it deals with a social theme that runs through the history of civilization, because starting from the language of contemporary art involves artists, citizens, students, parents and teachers offering of reflection and debate ideas, because in public meetings and with the book-catalog cross the border regulate thanks to the intervention of various professionals.
During the exhibition in Sansepolcro, March 18, will be offered an educational meeting for students and parents with the participation of Daniela Frullani, Mayor of Sansepolcro; Eleonora Ducci, Vice President of the Province of Arezzo; Marilena Pietri, Councillor for Equality of the Province of Arezzo; Pina Ferraro Fazio, Director for Equality of the Province of Ancona; Maria Rosa Chiasserini, President Equal Opportunities Commission of the City of Sansepolcro, all professionally engaged against discrimination and gender violence.
PRIVATE the project enjoys the support and collaboration of the Women and Justice Foundation of Ancona and the Marche Committee "If not now when," in addition to the support of all municipal institutions from time to time involved in the various stages.
For the exhibition in Tuscany, the project enjoys the collaboration of the Municipality of Sansepolcro, the Civic Museum Sansepolcro.
PRIVATE the project, alongside the exhibition space of CasermArcheologica by installing Marco Markets designed precisely to support the project in partnership with The Private Giraffe Labs.
