PRESS RELEASE No. 1 to 15 March 2017
CHRONOS. Contemporary art and his time, curated by Angela Madesani, is the first of a cycle of exhibitions annually entitled ROOMS OF CONTEMPORARY, which will involve several municipalities in the Province of Bergamo few kilometers away from each other , on some main themes of art history that put in dialogue the old and traditional with the contemporary.

This first exhibition is promoted by six municipalities of the eastern Bergamo low - TORRE PALLAVICINA CORTENUOVA, FOOTBALL, MORENGO, ROMANO DI LOMBARDIA, COLOGNO IN SERIOUS - with the aim of enhancing its historical sites that are situated chronologically between the sixteenth and twentieth century . major buildings, full of history and memory, where the curator brings the works of 46 contemporary artists, whose reflection is centered on the theme of "time" in the historical sense, existential, historical, artistic, philosophical. On display will be figurative paintings and not photographs, videos, sculptures and installations which come into close relationship with internal and external spaces and in close dialogue with each other.

THE EXHIBITION
"The spaces - the editor stresses - are strongly characterized and you could not expect to expose works that were not in tune with them. I do not, however, invited artists to submit a site-specific work. I called them because I chose with their work on the theme of "time / chronos". Each uses different media, photography, video, installation, drawing, painting, sculpture in marble, ceramics, plaster, lead and wool and even writing. The division and placement in the various locations of their works follows a curatorial taste. "

TORRE PALLAVICINA | Palazzo Barbo
A Torre Pallavicina three locations, very close together, are home to the works chosen by the curator: Palazzo Barbo (where Ermanno Olmi turned "The Profession of Arms"), the Tower (known as Tristan) located in the Palace garden and Barbò Palace Botti.
In the hall entrance of Palazzo Barbo, Paul Cavinato the first floor, with Reflections, an installation that is the action of time and its flow, in relation to space.
In the first room they are placed with an installation of small Sergi Avveduti sculptures and two precious Nanni Valentini ceramic sculptures; below, in the so-called Green Room, Fabrizio Prevedello presents some different installation-sculptures in plaster - where he plays with the shape of the circle - that arise in dialogue with a bronze frieze painted by Paolo Icaro. In the next room, frescoed with grotesques in the '500, by the brothers Campi of Cremona, we find a map of ash Maria Elisabetta Novello, which reconstructs a plant of Atlantis, addressing the theme of utopia.
It follows the Tullio Brunone room (Room IV) with a sound installation consisting of a pendulum.
In the last room, blue, Elisabeth Scherffig presents drawings on cave, entitled Monuments. They are "witnesses of time". In the same room there are also two embroidered works of Maria Lai, who died recently, that as Sheila Hicks will be present at the Venice Biennale.
