Exhibitions, Italy, Reggio Emilia, Reggio nell'Emilia, 28 April 2017
Play ghosts and theater of the times. The works of Alessandra Baldoni, Giorgio Bormida and Gian Luca Groppi are exhibited at the CSArt - Communication for Art and ClubART in Reggio Emilia (Via Emilia Santo Stefano, 54) at the European Photography 2017.
Made in collaboration with the Arteim Cultural Association of Albissola Marina (Sv), the exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday, 28 April 2017, at 6 pm in the presence of the artists.
Come explain the curators Chiara Serri and Paolo Barilli, "The photographic works by Alessandra Baldoni, Giorgio Bormida and Gian Luca Groppi find assonance in the construction of the scene, in literary suggestions, in wide dreamy openings. The ghost of the past explodes in the contemporary, revealing persistent images, which can be traced back to the cultural tradition and social memory. Inventory, then, as a tool of knowledge, Warburgan "Atlas of Memory" can give word to the image and space for thought.
Alessandra Baldoni presents a selection of works "From an Atlas of the Hard World", series started in 2015 and not yet completed. The project, which draws the title from Adrienne Rich's poem of poetry, sets in motion the nightmares and fears that characterize contemporary society. Let go of the fairy-tale atmosphere of the previous production, the artist now focuses on the mystery, through narratives suspended shortly before the tragic. Lovers of literature, Baldoni uses photography as a means of immortalizing elaborate outfits in detail, in which the image gradually rises from the word.
Giorgio Bormida, present on display with four photographs of the "VIXI" series (2015), a perfect reference to the verb "live", operates a continuous stratification of memories and memories. Different moments connected to each other by formal assonances or symbolic connections, dropped into a dark theater that accentuates the dreamlike aspects of vision. Darkness thus becomes synonymous with interiority, with references to the black and white film of German expressionism, the dramatic violence of the lights and shadows of Caravaggio and the visions of Füssli, a window open to the irrational part of the human mind.
Gian Luca Groppi presents two photographs and two quotations from the series "Tributo all'Inespresso", referring to 2014-15. A project devoted to literate artists and thinkers who have strongly influenced the artist's journey, despite their premature death. Not a job on suicide, but looking for new images for the present and for the future. The photograph thus corresponds to a complex set of scenarios that nourishes the thought and the story of the characters portrayed by Ian Curtis at Antonia Pozzi, Sarah Kane at Unica Zurn. A tribute to the unpressed, to the works in power that will never see the light.
On the occasion of the vernissage, will be presented the "Arteam for Sug @ rt" project, a collection of sugar sachets made by Figli of Pinin Pero SpA of Nizza Monferrato (At) with works of eighteen artists Arteam who presented Their candidacy for Arteam Cup 2016.
The exhibition will be open until May 31, 2017, Monday to Friday 10.00-12.00, or by appointment; Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May from 4 pm to 6.30 pm. Free admission. For information: tel. 0522 1715142, info@csart.it, www.csart.it, info@clubart.it, www.clubart.it.
