'The Siren' will be exhibited everyday from 10am - 11am, as part of the Musion showcase and will be featured on Thursday 9th Feb from 5pm onwards, as part of the Kinetica Award Nominations.
Nominated for the MAMA's 2012 Kinetica and Corporate Award, 'The Siren' is the very first underwater holographic film installation using the Musion Eyeliner System. A reinvention of Peppers Ghost, the Musion Eyeliner, allows a 3-dimensional moving life-size hologram to appear within a live stage setting. The Musion stage, like the cinema screen, is a theatrical space of pure exhibition, in which a 2-dimensional image is projected onto a tactile screen within a 3-dimensional space where a tension is realised between the materiality of the space (the screen and the auditorium) and the immaterial (projected) light image. The Musion installation provides a virtual environment that resides somewhere else, between the real and the actual, creating a deceptive art form, in which an “illusive absent presence” (Baudrillard, 1979) exists.
