Nudi - Cristina Cortese solo exhibition
Exhibitions, Italy, Venezia, 25 August 2012
Françoise Calcagno Art Studio hosts the personal work of Cristina Cortese, Italian artist born in Mestre - Veneto.
The exhibition presents the last artist's works - from 2011 to 2012 - which propose pastel nude on paper. Not always a unique paper, but sometimes different types of those, overlapped and approached, making the figure defined with a shade effect. Or as they reveal a succession of posters along the road, showing bodies of special optics, colorful pieces of research only apparently improvised.
For Cristina Cortese, born in Mestre and years living in Mogliano Veneto, painting the nude is equivalent to transcribe the first sensations "skin", emotions, sensuality, to elaborate how the body perceives the outside, to express the knowledge that it's self. And know you know. So the colors of light and shadow, the colors that instinctively lie on meat illuminated by the expression on her face, personality, from the movements and moods that change from day to day, from hour to hour and even messages that do emerge recondite, are an expression of a silent self-reflection and at the same time attention for the other. Listen and listen.
But if the body is the origin of ancient wisdom, a source of balance and shadowy relief of disease, and the mirror of our being and our environment, hands, feet, eyes, legs and torso are indeed elements in communication with each other, share a single entity, but also as a separate subject. As such, therefore, full actors in the artistic work.
After having attended the Academy of Venice naked from 1979 to 1981, Cristina Cortese between 1986 and 1993 he devoted himself to the collages, which also exhibits in 1994 at the exhibition "Al Fresco" of Marghera and in 1995 the headquarters dell'Endas Mestre, between 1993 and 2001 her performances in meetings of artists in Castel San Pietro (Bologna), Monte San Vito (Ancona), Mariano del Friuli (Gorizia), Pergola (Pesaro and Urbino), Tolentino (Macerata), Abano Terme (Padua). Since 2003 he resumed the study of the nude in charcoal and pastel colored, exhibiting in solo exhibitions in 2006 at the Centro Candiani in Mestre, in 2008 in the former textile mill in Campocroce of Treviso, in 2010 in the Social Centre Mogliano Veneto. In 2007 and 2008 by the parades of vintage "Pink Night" to Gazzera Mestre.
