antipodes
Exhibitions, Italy, Venezia, 15 December 2012
The Françoise Calcagno Art Studio presents a new exhibition. On this occasion we chose not to
take any subject, leaving the artists the chance to decide the subject on the basis of their personal
research. Why "Antipodes"? Why are the very different paths of these artists. The exhibition brings together some
works in which we highlight the different poetic visions and concepts behind their work.
The interior designer Elvezia Allari, born in Schio (Vicenza), create outfits, jewelry and works of textile design
artificial. Elvezia Allari uses materials in an unusual way, bent to weave plots with lightweight yet durable;
accessories air, spider webs catching mosaic tiles or crystal films of gold or small objects
newspaper that follow an imaginary kind.
The work of Jean Louis Poveda, a French artist who we have had the pleasure to exhibit in our gallery, it is
been influenced by its Mediterranean origins and vision of the Sahara desert. His painting draws
strength that characterizes it from Venice and numerous boat trips in the east of the Mediterranean, is the result
the meeting of two worlds: the Mediterranean and the poetic imagination of the Eastern world. "Views and whims," R03;R03;is
a suite of tempera paintings, abstract suggestions of Venice, representations partially or totally
imaginary.
For Cristina Cortese, born in Mestre and years living in Mestre, paint the naked equals
transcribe the first feelings "to skin", emotions, sensuality, to develop as the body perceives the outside,
to express the knowledge that we have of ourselves. So the colors of light and shadow, the colors are an expression of
silent self-reflection and at the same time of the attention for the other. Listen and listen.
Nicola Tosi is a young artist who grew up in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, in a family of craftsmen of the marble,
material from an early age his parents have known and appreciated. It 'was this passion
which led him one day to invent and create his sculptures.
Has been working for several years with Gabriele Tessari, artist and interior designer settled in Verona
England, specializing in architectural design and urban planning. The work of Gabriele Tessari is conceptual,
reading an article entitled "Reflections on the effect of the war compared with the effect of currency without
intrinsic value between countries, "he aroused in the artist a reaction that led him to represent his
Italian-European position in relation to what happens in the world every day, feeling a bit '
responsible and a little 'victim of this system. Its meant to be a provocation to stimulate thinking
about which way the new generations will have to choose a time of chaos as the one we are
living.
Antipodes is the work of Meyer Berrebi, living in Paris, his adopted city, since 1960. Through its small
track formed a universe where the characters will tell stories with rich colors and delicate pasta
generous. The initial step is done with humility, waiting cautious and serenity. The work does sway
in the infinitely mysterious an inexpressible reality except through the harmony that dwells, that the
realized and that makes it exist, leaving the author surprised, grateful and sometimes ... a stranger to
this work.
