Paolo Cervi Kervischer, born in Trieste in 1951, currently lives and works in his hometown. The artist works with solo exhibitions and installations in Italy and in central Europe: Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany, Hungary and Bosnia. He has also developed research and creative photography combined and is also known for his many performances and installations. Since 1980 he is among the participants in the international meetings (Colonies) in Central Europe. Since 1991 performs real portraits of contemporary Italian and foreign poets. He teaches Modern and Contemporary Art, Artistic Anatomy, Drawing and Painting in his laboratory.
"The concept most frequently in search of Paolo Cervi Kervischer lies in the idea of presence and strangeness. The painting uses a very expressive repertoire varied and very often enter into the dynamics of written composition, sketches of portraits, portions of human anatomy capable of representing the evocation of 'the "other" that is installed in the framework as a presence. The face has a central meaning in the work of Cervi Kervischer that always chooses faces seemingly similar, yet different; they seem to emerge from deep arcane, and in the moment of how to specify identity, fleeing from reading because it kept just below the threshold of recognition. This is because the artist prefers the concept on which tax then his research also exquisitely painted. The color has a range of variations that arise from using a diluted mixture; Black is often the domain of the surface on which fading and sagging constitute a firm texture of the picture; this, and submitted to a flow of consciousness committed to take elements from multiple languages for a fascinating synthesis, where leaps of abstraction and figurative tendencies coexist in a harmonious symbiosis. "(Enzo Santese).
