PRESS RELEASE
It opens Sunday, July 20th, 2014 at 18.30 at the gallery Françoise Calcagno Art Studio in Venice, Campo del Ghetto Nuovo, the exhibition titled REMEMBER ME artist’s souvenir.
It is not simply a collective but an experiment in sharing permanently the exhibition space, pursued by 14 artists that perform in this way in a proper self-managed showroom of contemporary art. These small and medium sized artwork can offer a rich and interesting insight of the current artistic production. All the artists involved, who came from different countries, have some connection with Venice and perhaps
this is the thread that unites them and gives meaning to the will of forgather. Join the iniziative: Elvezia Allari, Silvia Battisti, Françoise Calcagno, Cristina Cortese, Hélène Galante, Daniela Levera, Cate Maggia, Alix Manchet, Concetta Nasone, Gabriele Perissinotto, Agustina Ponce,Luigi Rifani, Katia Scotti, Paola Volpato.
Elvezia Allari creates outfits, jewelry and works of artificial textile design, favoring a kind imaginary with surprising and synthetic objects.
Time’s theme is common in Silvia Battisti’s works who, starting from the assumption “to each his own time”, gives us a vision through segments held together by a metallic wire.
Françoise Calcagno presents works in which she plays with Venice’s images. Photography combines with abstract painting, reviving timeless memories and atmospheres.
Since 2003 Cristina Cortese resumed her youth passion of drawing with pastel and charcoal. After being in contact with many artists she began to exhibit her collages and nudes.
The latest works of Hélène Galante have as central theme the life with its cycles, represented through the vegetale nature.
Daniela Levera has deepened her studies in Faenza and since 2014 she works clay in her personal lab in Venice, trying to reveal secrets and possibilities of this wonderful material.
Cate Maggia has come to the development of a personal technique based on the use of collage. She uses indeed clothing and accessories that have marked her history.
For Alix Manchet the matrix is the blank page of the story in which her sign stands out by grooving metal and wood, by scratching plexiglass, by ripping off the carton in order to let the light makes itself way among the empty and the full of the overlaps. In this way she creates movement and dynamism.
Concetta Nasone’s B’Estes, created in collaboration with Eugenia Pinna, are sculptures which represent the typical animals of Sardinian fauna. Entirely hand made by weaving the wool on a silhouette of pressed wood.
In recent years, Gabriele Perissinotto has re-discovered a youth passion, photography. Many of his recent works indeed are digital photographs processed and printed in various ways on different materials.
The argentine Agustina Ponce from Buenos Aires presents abstract works of great impact whose backing are entirely made by waste materials of the Venice Film Festival of 2008.
Luigi Rifani uses objects, pictures, negatives and graphics on cardboard to create original collages. He exhi-bited for the first time in 1973 at the Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, then he continued with numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
Katia Scotti has deepened the oil painting technique thanks to the teaching of Giovanni Soccol, who became her teacher and thanks to whom she had the opportunità to explore the techniques of the past.
Paola Volpato works on frescoes, public works of art and site-specific installations. From 1984 she exhibited in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
