Bursting with energy and an immense positive charge distinguish the work and character of Simona Morgantini. A desire to live the artist unconsciously transmits to every person you come in contact. However, behind quell'incontrollata exuberance lies a demanding need to rediscover the natural order of things. A necessity that drives the artist to approach the holistic yoga philosophy, his source of inspiration. A doctrine, this, based on the idea of R03;R03;an existing dialectic balance between body and soul, between technological progress and spirituality from which the attention to environmental policies, democracy of information, the rejection of war, vegetarianism. Starting from this culture Simona focuses his artistic research in the creation of works in which the constantly recurring element Jungian archetype of the mandala is located in the center of pictorial composition, both at the boundary of pop subjects offered through the technique of collage photo. Symbol widespread in most of the ancient religions, the mandala is of a spiritual and ritual significance in Buddhism and Hinduism. Mandala is, in fact, a word of Sanskrit origin, literally translated as "essence" (SEND) and "possessed" or contain (LA), which is the eternal circle of life whose circular shape have a positive effect on those who see it. Nevertheless, one must recognize the presence of emblems rounded in the Western world, as already stated by a disciple of Freud: from representations of Christ in mandorla, the rose windows of medieval cathedrals, ancient depictions dell'Ouroborus, the geocentric system of Dante's Paradiso. Underground links that confirm the thesis of the existence of a Jungian collective unconscious and the infinite flow of relations between East and West, distant worlds and yet very close.
While Jung used the mandala as a tool to support its argument about the existence of a collective unconscious, Simona uses the same sign with the aim to latch on to his impulsiveness, his deepest inner self that, in the end, turns out to be inextricably conditioning from the universe to her surroundings.
The influence of the tradition of the Rising Sun also returns in the use of acrylics, whose warm or cold tones are chosen from Morgantini depending on his mood, connecting directly to the seven chakras of the human body. The balance expressed through tones juxtaposed on the canvas corresponds to the emotional balance of the artist with his own soul.
For the occasion the artist has specially created a great mandala, positioned at the center of the picture. A huge sun, an eye that looks and spy the viewer curious about what the passer hasty, recalling in some ways the feelings aroused by the work of psychedelic art of the seventies. Red and yellow primary colors and symbols of vitality, gently softened from orange but without subtracting the brightness that characterizes his work, embellished with beads and glitter. Pleasant shades associated with the second chakra, located in the abdomen and connected to desire, sexuality and procreation. A general awakening of the senses explained metaphorically, through the work, and specifically, since the fruit of the spring season.
A biological time that, in the works of Simon, seems to have stopped at the instant of execution of the stroke. The result is an ancestral silence that causes the viewer to relive that primordial state of harmony between itself and the surrounding environment.
Simona Morgantini was born in Livorno, currently lives and works in Rome.
