The talented artist group "The 4 Graces" was founded in 2002 and the artist's names are Petra Gell, Mela Kaltenegger, Susanna Schwarz und G. Maria Wetter. They graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna where they received lessons from Gunter Damisch, Josef Schulz and Herwig Zens.
The artists' most common characteristic is concreteness and the determination of the picturesque form of clear surfaces and linear constraints leading to an open form of flowing colors determinate by individual spots. The themes used by the 4 Graces are up to date and influenced by lifestyles and relationships among people and animals. Past, desired or dreamed up topics are indicated. Habitats, houses and apartments are illustrated plus cravings created by advertisements or films are paraphrased in an ironic way. Each woman favors diverse themes, which they form in their own personal formal art language. The images created, shape into each other in a special way and interlock into a dialogue. They complete one another and form a whole that reflects our lives here and now.
