Inauguration: Saturday 29 August 2020, 6.00 pm
The international collective exhibition curated by Sandro Bongiani entitled: "Fragility and Detachment / 70 Years Ruggero Maggi" which the Spazio Ophen Virtual Art Gallery in Salerno dedicates to the Italian artist Ruggero Maggi opens on Saturday 29 August 2020, at 6.00 pm , one of the most interesting contemporary artists born in the fifties. An important international group exhibition in conjunction with the special anniversary of his 70th birthday, presenting 289 works by 295 artists from a total graphic corpus of 388 works from all over the world.
Ruggero Maggi began his career as an artist in the 70s with works focused on visual poetry, mail art, copy-art, laser art and holography also characterized by the inclusion of "extracts" from real life. Over the years these "interfering" structures within the work have become increasingly evident, in a relationship of intense "osmosis", in which, starting from 1989, the archaic natural elements coexist with technological components, up to recent works where the concept "Artificial / Natural" between "conceptual and emotional synchronism" takes on a predominant role, giving us a reality in which human action coincides with the moral one, in a complex tangle of references and solicitations. Sandro Bongiani in the presentation to this review writes: "a continuous interest in nature and the human dimension in a complex cross-reference of solicitations and interferences, of implications and hidden references in which action concisely coincides with the temporary and dark time of man . In this particular condition, his marginal search for the “truer than nature” border has been able to take shape and manifest itself in a shrewd poetic synthesis that shares the extreme urgencies of life and the restless contrasts of our shabby contemporary society ”.
