About the Book:
"This notable publication presents for the first time a comprehensive collection of artwork by Gaya, an award-winning contemporary abstract artist who lives and creates in Toronto. Comprising thirty-three paintings of Gaya created in the last few years of her emerging artistic pathway, interesting information about the artist as well as her unique conceptual thoughts about art and creative process, the collection reflects the full breadth of the artist’s multi-faceted work.
The paintings included in this art book can be characterized as continuous abstract variations. The underlying aesthetic concept of Gaya's artwork is an abstraction which represents an amalgamation of various streams in the contemporary art. Depending on the substance of the selected theme, the natural phenomena or elements, the aesthetic approach varies from impressionism to abstract expressionism and further to surrealism.
The key subjects of Gaya's artwork vary. The nature is in the core of the most of her creations. The paintings include natural environments and objects, single elements of natural phenomena and geographical ambiance, panoramic view, and wildlife. The artist embraces and shows the captivating power of colour of the landscapes and seascapes, light refractions in the texture of flowers, mysterious fluctuations of water and deviational patterns of the moving natural forms.
At the same time, many of Gaya's works are more concerned with socio-philosophical themes, so called "utopia" reflections on evolution of civilizations, an element of human interactions as well as urbanistic views of the man-built environment in the search for freedom."
