The art of destruction.
Lapo Simeoni to auction 70 works at popular prices: unsold stock is now demolished. When the collector has a responsibility ...
At the base is the taboo of the desecration of the work: destroy, offend, delete it, with all its sacredness and uniqueness.
A perverse game, that repels and seduces. The prohibition is broken, with the assumption of any liability on the part of those who choose.
This is the plan Destroy To The End, performance Lapo Simeoni, presented at the space ART.LAB of Grosseto. An event that
closes a cycle of exhibitions and becomes an opportunity to take stock of the issue of the relationship between the art market and the economic crisis.
Simeoni announces an auction, classic operation of the market, popular keyword: reasonable prices, for some sort of sell-off, with 70 works
produced paintings at auction in the last 10 years. A diary that tells icnografico, however, a story of margins, invisibility, of
homer: they are all unsold paintings, abandoned, never exposed excluded from or denied the eyes of the public and, therefore, "unfinished."
