The name of this project comes from a decorative motif dear to the artist, just that the Centrino, which appears in many of his works, becoming a halo or crown of the characters depicted, and predominates in this staff. As well as the fabric embroidered doily painted by Barbara takes on a dual function: decorative and protective. The first work in which it appeared was built in 1999. It was de The Rosary, a large painting composed of twenty-seven paintings and two panels, donated to the Villa Colombaia of Luchino Visconti to Ischia and then mysteriously disappeared. The doily takes on a symbolic meaning, wants to protect the inner world of the personalities portrayed by Karwowska.
Luigi Fusco clarified the style of painting and communicative artist saying: "Painting by Barbara Karwowska revealed by their forms, as well as its contents, a highly expressive connotation, not without an intense psychological introspection. The application of color molds the figures painted , making it wraps around a space, though "indefinite", warm and welcoming. the intimacy of the thoughts is shown without shame. "
The exhibited works will see two recurring elements: the crown and the pinwheel. The crown becomes the symbol of interior power, while turning, that of childhood and innocence, representing also a means to deal lightly with life's difficulties and to return a little 'children. Evocative of lightness and movement becomes the windmill in The Triumph of Peace also the symbol of serenity. The artist uses warm, wrapping colors. The canvases are essentially trichromatic, made with the use of brown, purple and white. The brown color crafts and nature, is the vitality understood as equilibrium between body and mind; Purple increases the mystery and the magic of his works; White, however, besides giving brightness, indicating the purity and spirituality of the creative process.
On display there will be three large paintings, some portraits and a composition windows ... They seem made up of 24 small canvases. They are faces, special physiognomy or decorative to imagine, to open a window into another world that of unconscious poetic. Ornella of the Free referring to this work he wrote: "They look like windows, faces leaning out of windows of the world (even the virtual one), that look, bewildered, surprised, intimidated, insecure, respectfully, shyly, politely other things, different, the situation is happening, scrutinize, they see, peek, almost as if they want to watch without being seen, as if they wanted to be ghosts, invisible to the world that wants to be seen however, be a leader, in the spotlight. They do not. no morbid voyeurs of others' lives: their faces are incomplete, do not have and do not show their full identity, they will not be recognized and be recognizable. they are fragments of life, incomplete fragments of identity, are living mosaic pieces , puzzle pieces that only Love can be defined, complete.
