The Souths of our life
The seventh edition of Cascina Farsetti Art, one of the events organized by CSF adams for promoting the culture of the image inside and outside the photography world, will take place at the farmstead inside Villa Pamphilj park (Rome).
As it was in the past editions, there will be a lot of space dedicated to who is approaching the photography world, like emerging photographers and students of photography, with some exceptions linked to the most known names.
And as it was in the past editions, a theme will be the common thread of the event.
Reporter Tano D’Amico have chosen not only a title, but also some thoughts linked to it:
The Souths of our life. “South is the muddle of spots and lines that find peace only in pictures. South is the unconditioned and sympathetic beauty that Tina Modotti looked for. South are the stones that in Eugene Smith’s pictures become the village we all come from.” Tano D’Amico
It is a way back to the image as a vector of warm and homely feelings: everyone of us brings inside his own South, be it dusty, solid, beautiful and distressing. The theme, fleeting like a faded memory of notes echoing from far away, founds its strength on the concept that photography is not description: the reportage must be image of the content, not of the “pack”. It will be like stand in front of a chinese box, inside which there is another one, and another one, too. Every box will contain a souther South, metaphor, getting close to our origins, of what we are.
