Opening 15th february 6.30 pm

Paesaggio Italia is the first retrospective exhibition focused on italian landscapes theme in thirty years of work by artist Maurizio Galimberti, one of the greatest author of italian photography who works only in Polaroid.

Hosted in Venice at Palazzo Franchetti from February 15th to May 10th, the exhibition is produced by GiArt - Civita Tre Venezie and curated by Benedetta Donato.
World famous artists participated to the whole artistic project fullfilment: the Academy Awarded Nicola Piovani, the art critic Denis Curti, the architect Michele De Lucchi, the art director of Ogilvy&Mather Giuseppe Mastromatteo.

The exhibition is made of 150 works of Maurizio Galimberti’s visions of his favourite places in Italy.

From the medieval squares in Tuscany to the shining rural landscapes in Puglia, through the Po valley at the simple landscapes in southern Italy.

The journey stops also in the italian cities, like Milan where Galimberti lives and works, or Venice where he has made several mosaic-portraits of actors and directors during several editions of the Venice Film Festival.

Rome, Turin, Naples, Palermo and Florence are portrayed too.

The exhibit showcases also Galimberti’s notes and digressions, from his debut to the height of his success. Like his notes during his journey in 1992 in Sicily driving a white Fiat 500 car, after the judges Falcone and Borsellino were killed by the Mafia.

Moreover a section of the exhibit showcases for the first time Galimberti’s works maked by using the new black and white film Impossible, able to make more dreamy the atmosphere of Capri, Rome and the other portrayed places.

Architectures, urban and rural visions have been prepared by the artist respecting his personal technics: singles pictures on Polaroids, mosaic and ready-made obtained through the manipulation of Polaroids and common objects.

As a result the italian landscapes are decomposed in a both rigourous and extraordinary way, following the Dadaist inspiration.

For the occasion and making the same threads of the exhibit, the historic Marsilio publishing house has also prepared a volume rounding up over 300 works, including those one exhibited.

Also thanks to the contamination with other arts contributions – from architecture to desing and music – Paesaggio Italia is the first anthological photographic project that retrace all the innovative experimentations made by Maurizio Galimberti during his entire artistic career.
