This video triptych is an exploration of identity of my mother, myself and my daughter reflecting on memories, the present and projections for the ages of 7, 17, 35, 50 and 70 years of age.
Shot using two iPhones to produce a split screen, the subjects gaze at their reflected selves, undertaking the ritual of applying makeup. Telling their story, they explore the self from the natural through to the made up.
What is revealed with my mother, myself and my daughter is a strong shift in the concept of self, gender stereotypes and sense of what we see for ourselves and how these have changed over the three generations of women living in Melbourne, Australia.
