Biography
Felipe Santander (aka HILVANADO) is a visual artist based in Santiago, Chile, born and raised in the popular district of Independencia, a neighborhood absorbed by popular graphics and textile trade. His mother, a seamstress, brought him up surrounded by textiles and patterns and his father a print maker both deeply influenced his artistic work.
After having studied Graphic Design and working in several advertising agencies, Santander entered the Faculty of Arts at the University of Chile.
Searching parallel methods that allow to repeat the exercise screenprint overlay layers and colors sectorize, begins to create images sewing large quantities of synthetic materials, experiments that reach their peak in his first solo exhibition called HILVANADO.
Santander is an artist whose work has been shown extensively in a very short period of time. In the last years, he had four important solo exhibitions in Chile as well as several group shows.
