Biografia

From early childhood, I have been fascinated by painting and art. I have been particularly interested in Byzantine style Iconography during my teens. One of my icons from this period, Icon of Saint Michael, is displayed in church Saint Michael On The Mount, in Guildford, Surrey.

Prior to my decision to focus on contemporary art, I obtained a combined BA in Slavistics and World Literature and was on my way to becoming a teacher.

After moving to London in the early 90’s and taking some pre-foundation courses in art, I enrolled at the Chelsea College Of Art and Design and graduated with a BA course in Fine Art: Theory and Practice Of Visual Art.

I was always interested in experimentation with different forms of artistic expression and in 2015 I decided to start creating
work that would be a combination of painting and installation art.

I started collecting unusual vintage objects, like old road signs, metal steamer trunks or old wooden boxes. Sometimes I use the whole object or cut a part out of it, refurbish it and paint and/or print on it. Breaking away from the confinement of two-dimensional expression has allowed me to challenge our established perception of time and space, to thoroughly
explore the complexity of our existence and to interact with the public on a completely different level.

I like incorporating textual messages into my artwork. By using mediums like translucent gel, I render the text almost indistinguishable from the surface and making them subliminal – almost beyond level of our conscious perception, in attempt to achieve diverse layers of understanding and perception.
