Working at the intersection of fashion, art and craft for over a decade, Cope Produces conceptual installation objects that seek to extend upon the physical anatomy of clothing to create autobiographical and socially observational life metaphors; often both emotional and subconscious manifestations. Traditional high craft skills and methodologies such as those of the cordwainer are evolved to create sculptural hybrids intended for a gallery environment which suggest alternative existence for fashion design.
One of her commissions for ‘Formula Fashion’ was an aerodynamic garment in leather, carbon fibre and Kevlar, showcased in an exhibition at the British Grand Prix 2011 and toured as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
Cope has created accessory and design products for concept boutiques, design stores and art galleries including B Store London and the V & A museum.
More recently studying a 'Fashion Artefacts' Masters at The London College of Fashion her interest became focused around the dialogue that could be explored around the foot and shoe. Prior to this she was commissioned by The Northampton Boot and Shoe Museum to create a work to celebrate the history of the boot and shoe industry in Northampton which forms part of their permanent collection.
A part time lecturer and guest speaker at numerous universities and previously art and design Pre-Masters course leader for an international pathway college. Other work within education includes developing and delivering conceptual accessories modules and conceptual fashion workshops for galleries, museums and schools.
