Painting has become for me a sort of remorse. Remorse for being a conscious and fortunate men.
I explore the complexity of human mind and personality which is developed by the person’s childhood. By concentrating on a childhood I am trying to define aggressive and sexual relation between adult and a child and children in our violent century in general. I am trying to deal with children’s basic desires which would determine how their personalities developed and whether or not the would end up well-adjusted adults. I am trying to sketch them in a different way sometimes with my own particular sense of humour.
I am not indifferent to what is going on around me. There is such a massive onslaught of cruel and violent scenes blurring the line between reality and unreality that our sensibility has been weakened. A strong message does not always require the most violent image, because you can often achieve much more through gentleness. I hope my paintings are able to restore people’s sensibility, which is fundamental.
