The landscapes are stylized, appearing like intermediary states between nature as it is and the fantasy world in the artist’s mind. Compositionally, they are arranged in horizontal bands following one another into thedepth of the images, almost disregarding perspective. The apparentpeace and quiet of this world are disrupted by the dynamic visualimpacts produced, on the one hand, by the striking intensity of colors, and on the other, by the vertical trees. The latter strain outward, awayfrom the canvas, shifting the optical focus from the center of the painting to its flat planes, drawing the gaze from the interior and directing it over
the entire landscape. Instrumental in our perception of proximity or distance, they are carefully incorporated over the entire surface and covered with a soft, translucent haze that gives the works an additional air of mystery.
