Biografia

Born in Italy with French origins, I moved and relocated in several countries growing up uprooted and torn apart between different cultures. My personal research gravitate around the theme of identity, portraiture is my favourite medium of expression. I usually aspire to establish a relationship with the people I photograph: I look at the others to define me and the more attention I give to people, the more I can learn about myself. However, I aim to keep this connection ambiguous, developing it between formal distance and intimacy. The scientific aspect of my approach leads me, in fact, to keep away what is too close in order to objectively understand it: the closer I instinctively want to go, the farthest I need to stay. It’s this feeling of desire and impossibility that I’m willing to reach in my work, setting the parameters for a dimension where the imagination must deal at the same time with fiction and dramatic tension.
