Questions, there are only questions....
Each piece offers a question with paradoxes and diversions along the way. Sometimes there is an intention to outwit the viewer, at other times the route is decisive and direct. There is often a little game going on, some small detail that might pass by unnoticed, a play on words perhaps, or a slightly obscured object. The viewer is enticed into a narrative where they become voyeur, investigator, author or player . The 'stills' are intended to be brought to life with each viewer's subjective response thus ensuring the work remains in a constant state of flux.
I work in a range of media, from projection to painting, collage and photography. NOTHING IS STATIC. My ways of thinking have developed from a science background (Bsc.), philosophy and a fine art degree (BA Hons). I maintain an interest in quantum physics and eastern philosophy.
Working in series keeps the work challenging and stimulating. The past two years has seen work on the 'laboratory' series, the 'head' series and the 'missing persons' collage series. There is also an ongoing webcam series of photographs which began in a YMCA in New York 2006.
