Biografia

Ben Neill and Bill Jones have been collaborating for over 10 years on a series of works that combine audio and video through digital technology. Neill and Jones explore ways in which the dynamics and improvisation of live musical performance can be translated across the boundaries of sound and vision.

Neill performs on the mutantrumpet, an electro acoustic instrument of his own design developed at the STEIM studios in Amsterdam. The mutantrumpet is both an acoustic instrument and a sophisticated MIDI controller which enables Neill to control the audio and visual elements of the performance in real time.

The duo's repertoire ranges from contemporary classical pieces such as Posthorn and Dis-Solution 2 to the future dub jazz that Neill is best known for as a recording artist for Thirsty Ear, Verve, Astralwerks and Six Degrees Records. In 2005 Neill and Jones created Palladio, a VJ movie based on the novel of the same name by Jonathan Dee which was presented at the New Territories Festival in Glasgow and Symphony space, NYC.
