John is inspired by aerial images of the landscape. Natural and environmental disasters, coastlines, and locations where man made objects contrast with nature all have been subjects of his paintings.
His fascination with aerial views of nature began while obtaining a masters degree in landscape architecture. The natural processes that shape the earth and the world we live in are reflected in his paintings. The subject matter has a great influence on his method of painting for each individual piece. Including elements of the landscape in the painting, such as sand or soil, or painting with objects found on the site, such as sticks or stones, forever link the painting to the site.
