Biografia

New Zealand born, Melbourne based photographer Jeremy Blincoe studied photography at Massey University in Wellington and began his career in photography through working in commercial advertising. He transitioned to his creative art practice when he moved to Australia in 2008.
A predominate focus of his work is on youth, and are set in wondrous Australian landscapes. Blincoe's attention on youth is owed to children's openness and curiosity about the world, which he believes are sometimes lost and not translated into adulthood. He combines this with the backdrop of natural landscapes exemplifying the ethereal beauty of the Australian scenery. Although Blincoe enjoys his own storytelling, he provides his viewers a license to form their own narrative inside a mysterious and mythical world that he has created.
The raison d’étre for Blincoe 's work is to revitalise wonder in his storytelling. He gently awakens the slumbering inner child beneath rigid armour. He nudges them to arise to gleam brightly with curiosity and a new found sense of unity.
‘Cast yourself back to your own childhood and wander through the memories of the times you spent adrift in nature, perhaps testing your ability to survive, perhaps just wondering about life. Such experiences have informed Blincoe’s series. As this is derived from a personal memory, perhaps alongside imagination, the viewer’s memory is being invited to help unravel the narratives in his images.’
