Every painting is meant to push the viewer over the edge of the canvas
and colors perceptible by the senses, to a reality, and then the paintings
share with all the symbols in general to their fundamental ontological
characteristic - to be what they symbolize.
But if the artist does not reach the goal - in general or to a specific viewer - and the work does not
lead by itself anywhere, not even mentioned as a work of art ...
P. A. Florenskij, The Royal Doors
During my studies and training, I have worked almost continuously on certain concepts that I had particularly at heart and which I had the urge to learn, both in the "private" sphere of personal growth ,as well as in the " public " (in the sense of intimacy exposed) and communication of my artwork .
I have always been fascinated by the quantity and quality of connections that there could be between two or more elements, be they related or unrelated between them, if they're brought together (just think of the emblematic case of Duchamp's bicycle wheel ) or contained in any sort of relation that involves their interaction.
It isn't a coincidence that one of the first rules of language learning, is the relationship between opposites : to understand the concept of hot it is related to cold, and so on.
This stage occurs when a child is about five years old, but then it accompanies him, almost like a prejudice, for the rest of his life -it's not by chance that the whole creation is conventionally categorized with opposite Items: sky - earth, male - female, artificial - natural.
Starting from the acknowledgment of these relations, balance is the state that I mostly aim to achieve with my process. A balance of which the apparent stasis is closer to perfection and unity than that of a vision of immobility and deadliness, because after all, the strongest dynamics are born when two opposite systems are integrated by relating and complementing each other rather than when they're strangers one to the other.
At those reflections, must be added a profound conceptual and aesthetic interest to the Orthodox culture , in particular to religious art , icons particular be In their points of transition between different states of being, what I consider as inseparable from the concept as a work of art .
