MMag. Barbara Füreder
Born 1973, in Vienna, Austria.
I lives and work in Muckendorf, Austria,
currently AiR in London
Coming initially from painting, I soon started also using other techniques as printing or photography. When fibers crossed my way, to my very big surprise I instantly fell in love with them and today “painting” with lamb´s wool is my current favourite. I very much appreciate the brute and physically straining producing process while working with the most tender and delicate fibres. Beyond that this technique rather enables me to mix ancient women´s handicraft with modern materials by combining traditional fairy-tale telling with today´s topics. So this cosy, traditional material allows me to effectively stress current taboos, using it´s inherent tenderness to endorse it´s statement.
