I have been working in the social/political realm for a number of years, in the Nationbuilding series, creating hybrid flags of nations which will never exist, painted in tar, a reference to the struggle for oil; reading the “signs of the times” and filtering these world events in Empire, making prophetic falling stars from the field of the American flag and creating constellations of stars gleaned from the Iraqi and American flags; interpreting the alarmism of an impending terrorist attack with domestic home-made Shields and Lances; illustrating a nation suffocating in its oil dependence, in Anonymous Action; and lastly, World Reset, taking a hard look at contemporary culture and attempting to cancel out its ills and distractions: a visual pushing of the reset button on a global scale.
Upcoming, I’m creating an allegory for the 21st century condition, the self-isolation in a global world; the refuge of the common man in Shelter.
