Biography
Hong is a Chinese video artist and filmmaker based in London. Having worked with the conventional formats in film and TV for years, she finds herself attracted to alternative ways of screen-based storytelling. She creates socially concerned video art from a cross-cultural perspective drawing from her own experience living and working in China and the UK. For instance, her video installation Seating Code transforms a gallery into a film set, and uses humour to examine a superstitious rule imposed on female workers in the Chinese film industry.
