Biography
Born in Paris, France, Nicolas Laborie is an experienced photographer and filmmaker based in London.
His work is based on social commentary, human condition and gender equality using the Wet Plate Collodion process, mixing an historical process and technique with a contemporary subject.
Invented by Frederick Scott Archer in 1851, the Wet Plate method is a process using panes of glass, coated with a highly toxic chemical solution to become a negative. Wet Plate Collodion is a demanding, expensive and lengthy unique historic process, which can also produce a positive image using tin or aluminum instead of glass.
His photographic and film work lead him to exhibit in various galleries Including the Royal Academy of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, The London Art Fair, Affordable Art Fairs, GX gallery, Amnesty International, Bo.Lee gallery, Lacey Contemporary gallery, The Mall gallery in UK and also exhibited abroad in Spain, USA, Romania and China.
