Biography
Erica Smith Ramos is born in 1981 in Mexico City. She is a visual artist focusing primarily on photography and painting. Her work is deeply influenced by her extensive cultural upbringings.
She is considered to be a cultural nomad; a person so far having lived in ten countries across five different continents, starting at a very young age. Some of these countries include: Mexico, Morocco, Egypt, Spain and Germany. Having a constant thirst for learning new cultures, she constantly submerges herself in diverse social behaviours of the cultures she is in and attempts to turn the everyday happenings in her life into visual expressions. She is compelled by themes like: love, melancholy, justice, empowerment, liberty and human-rights. In a peculiar way, Erica´s style of living makes her feel right at home wherever she is and gives her a sense of pertinence and understanding of the realm she lives in.
