Biography

BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Turin in 1950,
I live and work in the beautiful city of Verona.

The first work with recovered materials was a work presented at school in 1965.
Since the 1970s I have been dedicated, self-taught and in short time available, both to painting, always very material, and to the sculpture of marble and wood. Attending some artists for more or less long periods, enrich my knowledge baggage. In the '90s I started building objects with recycled materials.
My business activity over the years has always been very eclectic: photographer - entrepreneur in civil-antiquarian-shopkeeper glassware, restorer-driver-storehouse - to name a few
Attivita 'so different, joined to the passion of the collector's office, has led me to possess a considerable stock in the years to draw for my works.
Colors are predominantly water and ecological, scraps or exuberances of a friend color.
Hardware and electrical systems are always new.
Frequent use of sand, resins, natural lands, powders of various kinds, metal filings, wood sawdings, sometimes mixed with each other and fastened with glue and gel, according to techniques studied and tested over time, are a feature of many my work.
All works are signed and endowed with a certificate of origin.
A room in my home is dedicated to permanent exposure,

THE ART OF LIOMA:
All the artistic production of Lionello Matteucci is characterized by the use of recycled materials: through a careful search and selection process of the pieces to be used, it creates the most varied and refined works. Thanks to a great imagination it assembles and builds very original work, where every component and every detail is unsuccessful but follows a precise compositional thinking: attention is not only to the final form but also to the chromium and to the material component , in order to achieve a lively and realistic result.
Thanks to the studied magnetic mechanisms, many of his works become interactive and involve the public in dismantling and transformation processes.
Part of his production revolves around an imaginary story set in the future where characters and creatures created by him become the protagonists of fantastic adventures and episodes.
A good manual ability also allows it to create pieces closest to the craft, with a precise function such as lamps, mirrors, and original plates.

A VISIT TO LIOMA. by Raffaele Valbusa
Visiting Lionello means going into a separate world, halfway between the garrison of a pathologic finder and the workshop of a genial visionary artist. Already at the entrance we are faced with innumerable objects set aside for future use. Entering, opens a door to the most unbridled fantasy. Apart from a small space to move with caution, everything else is occupied by dozens of creations of all kinds and shelves and drawers containing other material stocks. All the works, in fact, are realized by reusing, one can say reinventing and assembling the most disparate things, from communes to the mechanisms of household appliances, to ball bearings and to logs and roots of wood. You find yourself surrounded by disturbing mechanized creatures or the result of some strange evolutionary line, astronomers, strange monsters, cartoon characters, and everyday objects recreated with an evocative sense of "design," and much of it is designed for use practical, and equipped with moving parts and lights and in some cases even accessories ... Lionello, the host / artist is a "sui generis" character, a little evil gnomom, a little frizz, a little bear , a little 'istrione. He accompanies you and guides you on this visit, introduces you to his fantasies, to the idea behind his work, the projects that he is going through and the developments still to be made, the people with whom he collaborates and exchanges ideas. All served with the enthusiasm and passion of those who reinvented themselves, in addition to the recovery items they use. We greet at the end of the visit, like the twenty-year-old friends we are, not before visiting the cats who are dormant and ignorant of us.
