Biography
Born on April 26, 1982 in Reggio Calabria, I currently live in Pizzo. I graduated from High School "G. Berto " in Vibo Valentia and then I continued my studies at the “Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria where I got the master’s degree in Restoration and Conservation of Architectural and Environmental Heritage (Faculty of Architecture).
Art is a passion I’ve been cultivating since my adolescence, at first it was just a personal expression consisting of small sketches in colored ink I used to draw in my spare time. In the last years, art has come to play a more important role in my life. Gradually the subjects represented in my drawing developed their character, complexity and originality but they needed a further growth, in order to gain the importance they deserved. For this reason, I asked for advice to some local more experienced artists in order to find out the most suitable techniques to improve my artistic production, discovering a new way to fulfill my need to create. Now my art is based on a series of clean and straight lines drawn on the canvas, using indelible markers showing the skeleton of the drawing and acrylic paint to fill the spaces between lines with brightly colored monochrome tones. Moreover, my artistic expression is partly influenced by my university studies, both for the space concept and study of proportions, and the use of technical tools able to produce geometric design such as digital software like AutoCad and Photoshop, which allow me to implement the drawing techniques, ranging from hand-painted canvas to digital prints. I prefer to maintain a link with the traditional technique, which allows me to have a symbiotic relationship between the artist and the canvas, enclosed in that moment out of time phase where the ideas still incorporeal come to life on the rigid support. My art is constantly evolving, it springs from my need to turn my thoughts into images, operating a reinterpretation of reality which could be defined as abstract art; many of my creations develop from improvisation, as for me: "Art is instinct, and it only stops on the edges of the canvas."
