Biography
One of the most beautiful things for me is to talk about painting, colours and drawing; something I've always done. Painting, for me represents a fascinating and passionate experience. My purpose is to be able to transfer on to canvas what my eyes see through the filter of my soul. I could lose myself within time and go on working indefinely. Luckily I have people around me who bring me back to reality from my artistic full immersion. I work on canvas, wood and plexiglass. The paintings on canvas are inserted in a wooden frame and they continue on this frame creating distinct metaphysical suggestions. To obtain the same absorption of colours, both on canvas and wood, I prepare special glues with Bologna chalk and water, then I put it in various layers on the material I'm going to paint. This helps a better absorption of colours, gives a better brightness and assures to the artwork an unlimited life. In the next phase, I use the antique technique of glazing. In these last few years I've transferred this very traditional type of painting on to modern support: plexiglas and polycarbonate. This has been possible thanks to the invention of a medium inserted between the rough material and the colours. Usually, I also add transparent effects inserting in certain spaces only pure water based colours, which, above plexiglas become see-through and faded just like coloured glass. The finished work is protected by a polyurethane catalyzed varnish which makes the item washable. The aim of this research with new materials is collecting splashes of colour and drops of antique experiences. My subjects have a versatile value: in each work the choice of the subject is always originated by various reasons. The artwork is a symbiosis of sensations of soul, technique, mastery and colours.
I have created the "LANTONI®"( diameter centimetres 40). The word LANTONI®"(derived from my name) is a brand that I have patented to define my paintings on globes of plexiglas. It is a new figurative expression, shaped in an artistic form of hemispheric plastic material that is formed by two parts connected together and painted. LANTONI® is a versatile art form that can be also fixed on a plastic support and hanged on the wall like a painting. The trademark " LANTONI®" was registered at the Patent Office in Turin in 1996. This new idea is very innovative in the three-dimensional representation of space. The LANTONI® at the moment represent in the best way my soul, blessedly entangled in colours, paint, brushes, places and people. A free and joyful way of painting which involves also the spectator, who beyond discovering all the effects created by the artist also takes on a leading part as he is free to position and rotate the LANTONI®, in fact, due to their spherical form, they have no limits. They are completely adaptable. Painting on a transparent globe takes on for me an important, significant, involving my artistic capacity to represent a union between sign and movement. The . LANTONI® can be placed outside because they are resilient to all kind of weather. The globe, hit by the external light, seems to scan the inevitable passage of time, creating light games and reflecting the colours from one part to another.
