Biography
Artistic Biography :Umberto Mazzone was born in Catania in 1941 .At present he lives and works at Bevagna (PG) continuing the long artistic path that he started when he was only ten years old.His drawing teacher urged him to approach the world of art that ,with its colours and lines,allowed him to discover his artistic talent.Since then he had made an artistic research through new expressive means somehow linked to the Greek and classical world.While attending the universityhe deepened the study of the human body ,studying at the School of fine arts, in Catania.
All his life-stages are rich in incentives and artistic growth, but the period which is more tied to Art is the one when he suffered from facing his own identity as an artist, identity which was hidden behind the good monsters of his oneiric world or in the shapes sprinting towards his pencils .His production shows contacts with realism , with surrealism and futurism elaborated with a post-modern key which is evident in the screaming colours made moderate by geometric sequences that mediate the urgency of the painter.
