Born in Favara (AG) in 1963. Always animated by the call of the art, self-taught painter, his artistic vein has had the opportunity to improve with the studies undertaken at the Institute of Art in Agrigento where he obtains the diploma of Master of 'Art in "pictorial decoration". For work reasons he moved to Liguria, attending at the same time various cultural and pictorial environments of the place. Here begins his first pictorial research fascinated by the metaphysical world and abstractionism. This peculiarity led him to have a conception of the various styles perpetuated over time, thus performing various themed works on which he studied the spatiality, the compositions and the chromatic aspects, developing a truly original and autonomous artistic language. The paintings vary from the figurative to the most intrinsic aspects of metaphysical spatiality and geometric abstractionism.
Around the years '90 returns to Sicily lending his work at the Archaeological Park and Landscape of the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. In this period of time, he oriented his pictorial talent in the composition of large-scale works, further refining his personal style in the different geometric forms, appreciated by numerous visitors and critics, in solo and group exhibitions. In the works realized, the choice of colors stands out and stands out, which now make light and contrast, where the observer grasps a sense of immediacy and geometric shapes of extraordinary beauty that, in their apparent immobility, burn and they explode in a variety of colors exalting the value and precision arising from the particular sensitivity of the artist. For several years he has been curating and directing the important and significant painting exhibition "I Colori della Pace" as part of the International Telamone Award.
The artist in general, is a mysterious, proficient, profound being, capable of creating, interpreting, reading a visionary or realistic reality; he is a being who succeeds with his particular sensitivity to stimulate the sensitivity of others with his own art. Gaetano Licata also participates in contemporary art exhibitions for charitable purposes, which proceeds from the sale of works donated by well-known masters and artists, become a generous act that look beyond the horizon of their art, to give themselves to that universe of love and of emotion that is life. Therefore, not only the artist with a sensitive soul but also the man forged by everyday life, modest and also the unselfish in moments of need. This is also witnessed by his high gesture of altruism, for which in 2009 he received from the Minister of the Interior "the Official Certificate of Merit to the Civil Valor" which expresses gratitude and gratitude for the deed done in favor of third.
For Gaetano Licata is a series of collective and personal exhibitions, will demonstrate his eclectic language from the figurative to the abstract and the informal in a continuous research to create sometimes, those technostructures and extroflessioni that confirm his desire to discover new territories .
