Biography
April The Cruellest mixes the fundamental experiences of historical avant-gardes (Duchamp, Man Ray), Rotella's decollages, the democratic epic of Pop Art and finally takes off from museums the cultivated painting tradition with
ironic and iconoclast spirit. The presented artwork, titled "Bitch", revisits the italian painting tradition (the celebrated "Sacred Love and Secular Love" by Tiziano) with provocatory dadaist-pop irony. April the Cruellest, as a pseudonym originates in the verse “April is the cruellest month” opeing "The Waste Land" poem by american modernist poet T.S. Eliot, a land which is desolated and sick as that of our times.
